The Bensalem Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Bensalem Township School District and Building A Better Bensalem, hosted on May 3 a Traffic Safety Program for students of the Bensalem High School junior class student body.

This program was created in 2023 to educate new drivers on navigating traffic stop encounters with law enforcement. The presentation included a 15-minute scenario-based video produced and filmed by student actors and police officers. Key components included drivers’ best and worst practices when dealing with the police. It also highlighted law enforcement’s legal authority and provided information on how to file a citizen’s complaint, if needed, after the traffic stop is completed. At the conclusion, students were allowed to participate in a Q&A period and were provided a Traffic Stop Guidelines flier.

The program aims to keep everyone safe during a traffic stop through mutual respect and an understanding of the law.
