Winner of 11th annual Pickering Manor Car Raffle announced

Jeri Rogers, of Yardley, had the winning ticket and chose a cash prize of $25,000

On April 19, the winner of Pickering Manor’s 11th annual Car Raffle was announced: Jeri Rogers, of Yardley. Though she wasn’t present at the event, Rogers was quite surprised when she received a call from director of development Maureen Kuhar. Faced with the tough decision between a new car or $25,000 in cash, Rogers decided to take the cash.

Sharing in the excitement was Justin Geller, of Southampton, who won the second-place prize: a $1,000 Visa gift card.

Pickering Manor has been hosting its renowned car raffle for nearly a decade, evolving into a cherished fundraising tradition. This year’s event was no exception, with over 600 tickets sold. This marked the highest number of tickets sold since the start of the Car Raffle.

The suspenseful drawing took place after a pre-drawing cocktail hour, attended by nearly 100 ticket holders. Pickering Manor’s own personal care resident Mildred “Millie” Sauermelch pulled the winning ticket from the raffle drum.

Proceeds help to enrich the lives of seniors at the Newtown-based nursing home and senior living community.

“We are thrilled to see the continued success of our annual car raffle and are immensely grateful for the overwhelming support from our community,” said David Woodhead, CEO, Pickering Manor. “The funds raised will significantly contribute to enhancing the lives of our residents and furthering our mission of providing quality care and support.”
