Sunshine Foundation is hosting its 22nd annual RunWalkBark4Dreams 5K fun run and 2-mile walk on Saturday, May 18, at Tyler State Park. This family-friendly event is for everyone, including dogs. Para athletes are encouraged.
The $15 entry fee per adult or child benefits the Sunshine Foundation to make children’s dreams come true. Registration opens at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. 5K start; the 2-mile walk starts immediately after runners.
Participants will raise funds to make Zachary’s dream come true. Zachary, 9, with Down syndrome, dreams of visiting Disney World to meet Mickey Mouse.
This year’s event also gives corporate groups and organizations the opportunity to walk or run as a team building activity that supports children with chronic illnesses and conditions in their community.
Sunshine Foundation answers dreams to children with lifelong severe chronic illnesses and conditions (spina bifida, cerebral palsy, Level 3 severe autism, Down syndrome, hydrocephalus, severe epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease, blindness, deafness, trauma from abuse) who may be turned away from other wish-granting organizations that require a life-threatening or critical diagnosis.
