Warrant issued
On Wednesday, Feb. 28, at about 3 p.m., Bensalem Police were investigating a report of suspicious activity near the 3600 block of Street Road.
As officers attempted to contact the suspect, he fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed and struck two police vehicles. The suspect was operating a white-in-color Mercedes SUV, which was later recovered, unoccupied, in the area of W. Highland Avenue and Hulmeville Avenue in Langhorne Manor. Officers from multiple jurisdictions established a perimeter and a search was conducted utilizing K9s with negative results. The suspect has been identified as Elovens Joseph, 33, of Trenton, New Jersey.
There is an active warrant for Joseph at this time. He has been charged with multiple counts of Aggravated Assault and related offenses. Updated case investigation
On Nov. 11, 2021, at 3:15 a.m., Lower Southampton Police responded to and investigated the report of a motor vehicle theft (carjacking), point of gun.
The incident occurred in the driveway of a residence along Bowman Drive, Feasterville. The victim reported that when he arrived home, he was immediately approached by two unknown males who brandished handguns and physically stole his belongings, including the keys to his 2021 Toyota Venza. One man drove off in the Toyota and the other individual drove off in a dark-in-color Kia and out of sight.
Following a long and continued investigation, which included the FBI, the men involved in this carjacking case were identified as Jonathan Akubu, 30, from Philadelphia, and Dean Fosque, 26, also from Philadelphia, both of whom were charged by the FBI.
Arrest for fraud
On Jan. 17, Lower Southampton Police officers were dispatched to 2584 W. Maple Ave., Feasterville, for the report of a fraud committed by an employee.
As a result of the investigation, the employee, who was terminated from employment, was identified as Stephen McGrory, 39, of Rockledge. The investigation revealed that McGrory used a business credit card between Dec. 20, 2023 and Jan. 17 without authorization. The unauthorized transactions totaled more than a $20,000 loss to the business.
Following this investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for McGrory on Feb. 2, and he was recently arrested when he turned himself in to Lower Southampton Police. He was arraigned and released on bail, and is awaiting his day in court.
Arrest warrant for serial thief
An arrest warrant has been issued by Lower Southampton Police for Philadelphia’s Chiayi Chen, 43, who allegedly committed numerous thefts and burglaries in Feasterville and surrounding areas.
On Aug. 24, 2023, Lower Southampton Police responded to Guys Bicycles for an audible glass break alarm activation. Police units arrived and found a broken front door window, allowing entry into the business. During the investigation, an e-bike valued at $1,700 was reported missing from the inventory. The business video system captured the image of the involved male taking the e-bike. Also during the investigation, an abandoned bicycle was found at the rear of the building. A resident along the 100 block of Highland Ave. reported the recovered bike as stolen. This theft was captured on a home video system. Video footage from the burglary and bike theft depicted the same image of the involved male.
At 4:59 a.m., on Oct. 1, 2023, Lower Southampton Police investigated the report of an attempted burglary at Select Jewelers along E. Street Road. This incident was captured on surveillance video, and the male’s image matched that of the individual from the Aug. 24 incidents. Property damage was estimated at $3,500.
On Oct. 1, 2023, Lower Southampton Police investigated the report of a burglary that occurred at the AT&T phone store, located at 2 Bustleton Pike in Feasterville, at about 5 a.m. During this investigation, it was found that about $1,000 in merchandise was taken from the business after a door was forced open. Video surveillance captured the image of the involved male, who matched the description of the three prior incidents.
On Oct. 15, 2023, Bensalem Police arrested Chen for a business burglary. Following this arrest and investigation, Chen was positively identified as committing the theft and burglaries listed above. Chen was also identified as being involved in multiple business burglaries throughout the tri-county area. Lower Southampton Police have issued an arrest warrant for Chen, as they await their turn in the justice system to bring him to court.
