The African American Museum of Bucks County announced its upcoming Valentine’s Day-themed fundraiser, a musical tribute honoring the legendary Luther Vandross. This event takes place at Parx Casino and Racetrack, 3001 Street Road, Bensalem (Parx East Building – adjacent to casino), on Feb. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be live performances, dancing and an ambience steeped in romance.

Philadelphia vocalist Jeff Murrell and his band will celebrate Vandross’ most memorable love songs. There will also be a special guest appearance by Kim Sledge, of the iconic pop group Sister Sledge.

“We’re ecstatic to present this tribute concert to Luther Vandross, a musical luminary whose songs continue to resonate deeply within our hearts,” said Linda Salley, president and executive director of the African American Museum of Bucks County.

“Parx is proud to help sponsor the museum as an important legacy and asset to the Bucks County community,” said Ron Davis, Parx’s director of diversity and community development. “We look forward to its completion, operation and its significant impact to the story of America.”

The fundraiser will be hosted by Donald Schuler Jr. Guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and desserts. Each ticket includes a $25 slot voucher for Parx Casino’s slot machines. Tickets cost $150 per person.

Proceeds will benefit the completion of the museum’s permanent home at Boone Farm. The AAMBC Boone Farm Capital Campaign, which has a current fundraising goal of $2 million, is working to transform the historic 1717 stone building in Langhorne into an operating museum, where the AAMBC can continue to share the untold stories and hidden figures of Bucks County, previously done in a traveling setting.
