Women’s Animal Center, 3839 Richlieu Road, Bensalem, is hosting a Happy Pawlidays Party on Thursday, Dec. 28, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Children of all ages, and who are accompanied by a parent and/or guardian, are invited for a fun-filled afternoon of decorating treats to be given to the shelter dogs waiting for their forever homes, and reading to the center’s adoptable shelter cats and small pets (rabbits, guinea pigs) as part of the center’s Story Tails Reading Program.
Attendees can decorate dog cookies using dog-safe icing and ingredients that will be given as special treats to the shelter dogs. Regarding the reading program, this provides children the opportunity to practice their reading skills and to spend time socializing with a shelter pet awaiting adoption.
Women’s Animal Center is also welcoming and accepting donations of items for the basic care of the shelter pets. High priority “supply the shelter” wish list items include soft cat and dog treats, small animal food, cat toys, laundry detergent, Dawn dish soap, towels (new and used/clean), canned dog food (unopened and unexpired), pet bed heating pads and Kuranda dog beds. The full wish list can be found at womensanimalcenter.org.
Fees to participate in Happy Pawlidays Party activities are $5 per dog treat to decorate and $5 per Story Tails Reading Session. For more information, email [email protected].
