“Thriving Together” is the title of the annual Freedom Fund Banquet, hosted by the Bucks County Branch of the NAACP on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Parx Casino Racing, 2999 Street Road, Bensalem.
The guest speaker for the evening is Angela Wells, Communications Workers of America director of education, human rights and health and safety. She started her career as a political organizer and later became a union activist and flight attendant for Continental/United Airlines. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Flight Attendants. She served as the national Master Executive Council legislative chair for AFA and served as an executive board member for the Harris County AFL-CIO.
More recently, Wells has worked as a senior strategist for Democracy Initiative in Washington, D.C. She returned to CWA in 2017 as an administrative director in Atlanta, Georgia, where she tirelessly bargained contracts and collective bargaining agreements with companies like AT&T and DirecTV on behalf of over 50,000 CWA members in the southeastern region of the United States and Puerto Rico.
The branch will also recognize several people who have given back to the community through extraordinary acts of service and dedication to the preservation of civil rights for everyone.
