Holy Ghost Prep is celebrating its legendary basketball coach Tony Chapman, ‘71, on Thursday, Sept. 28.
Chapman retired from coaching this past spring (with 928 career wins), so the entire school community will celebrate him — and the many lives he impacted — with an all-day event.
Tony Chapman Day begins with a morning meeting for all students, faculty and staff, during which some local politicians will officially declare Sept. 28 as Tony Chapman Day. At lunchtime, Chef Jorge and the CulinArt team will prepare and serve some of Chapman’s lunch favorites.
The day concludes with an evening celebration, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Chapman Arena. Tickets for that event are $30. Price includes food, an open bar and a commemorative Tony Chapman Day T-shirt designed by HGP alum Shane Hickey.
