Last Tuesday, the Bensalem Rotary held its annual changeover event and award ceremony at Founding Fathers, located on Street Road.

Dr. Victoria Velazquez was appointed the club’s president for the next year.

Bill Lewis received the club’s Person of the Year award for his work with the nonprofit Bensalem Education Foundation, of which he is the co-president. Over the past decade, the foundation has raised over $500,000 for the Bensalem Township School District.

The Bensalem Rotarian of the Year award went to Michelle Benitez, who has been a board member of the club for a number of years. In 2022, she helped fundraise for the club’s annual bowling event in Feasterville. With the help of retired Philadelphia and NFL players, the event raised $10,000 for college scholarships.

Additionally, Harvest Ministries, which provides hundreds of meals each week in the Bensalem area, received $1,000 from the club and the Gundaker Foundation. The grant was arranged by Steve Moran.
