Donte Powell
On Friday, May 19, Bensalem Police took an Aggravated Domestic Assault report from a female victim. She stated that the day before, she broke up with her boyfriend Donte Powell, 37, of Old York Road, Jenkintown.
She told police that on Saturday, May 20, Powell showed up at her house, took her to the bedroom, closed the shades and locked the bedroom door. He then produced a handgun and placed it against her forehand as he slapped her face while telling her to “shut up.” He also pistol whipped her several times. He periodically pointed the gun at her head while making threats to kill her oldest daughter and her parents.
At one point, the victim called for her daughter who came up to the bedroom. The victim then mouthed to her oldest daughter “help me” as she gestured that Powell had a gun. The victim’s daughter then went downstairs and got her father, who went upstairs and told Powell that he had to leave the house.
As Powell was exiting the residence, he pulled the gun from his waistband, pointed it up the stairs and pulled the trigger. Fortunately, as he drew the weapon, the magazine fell from the gun, which triggered a safety mechanism that did not allow it to fire. Powell pulled the trigger two more times, but the gun didn’t fire.
Powell was then pushed outside and the door was locked. He fled the scene. Bensalem Police immediately placed officers outside of the residence on Williamson Court. Bensalem Police obtained an arrest warrant for Powell, and were able to identify that he was staying at an apartment at 100 Old York Road, Jenkintown. Bensalem Police contacted the Abington Police Department, who obtained a search warrant for the residence.
The Abington Township SWAT Team was activated and was able to take Powell into custody without incident. Two guns were recovered from the residence, one of which was used in the aggravated assault in Bensalem. Powell was transported back to the Bensalem Township Police Department, where he was arraigned by District Justice Michael Gallagher. He was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $1 million bail.
Charges include Aggravated Assault (two counts), Firearms not to be carried without a license, Terroristic Threats, Possession of an Instrument of Crime, Recklessly Endangering another Person, Simple Assault and Harassment.
Wilson Garcia
On March 8, 2023, Wilson Garcia, 34, of Brighton Street, Philadelphia, began a conversation with a 13-year-old female on a social media/dating app. During that conversation, Garcia expressed interest in having a relationship with her, and also having a sexual encounter with her. The conversations continued over the next couple of months, with Garcia expressing that he wanted to have sex with the girl and repeatedly asking her to sneak out of the house to meet him.
At 3 a.m., on Friday, May 19, Garcia contacted the 13-year-old and instructed her to fake that she was sick in the morning so she didn’t have to go to school. He said that he would send an Uber to pick her up and take her to his room at the Lincoln Motel on Lincoln Highway in Bensalem Township, and provided his room number. He also included a picture of himself nude standing in the hotel room, and said that he would get condoms from the front desk.
Bensalem Police located Garcia in the hotel room and took him into custody. He was charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Minor under 16 years of age and related offenses. He was also found to have an active warrant out of Norristown for Failure to Appear on a DUI case. Garcia was arraigned by District Justice Terry Hughes and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $950,000 bail.
Diane Doughty
At approximately 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2023, the Lower Southampton Township Police began an investigation after receiving a complaint of the theft of a wallet. The victim reported that while at a local eatery in the 100 block of E. Street Road, Feasterville, her wallet was stolen from her purse. After the theft, the victim’s credit/debit cards were used at local and out-of-state retail establishments.
During this investigation, it was learned that the credit/debit card was being used at a retail establishment in Deptford Township, New Jersey. The Deptford Township NJ Police responded and took the individual, identified as 32-year-old Diane Doughty, of Philadelphia, into custody.
During further follow-up investigation, Doughty was identified as the individual who took the wallet and used the credit/debit card. An arrest warrant has been issued for Doughty for Identity Theft.
