Unattended Veterans Service set for April 27

Four unclaimed veterans and a wife will be interred at Washington Crossing National Cemetery

The community is invited to join the Bucks County Coroner’s Office at a combined ceremony with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, on Thursday, April 27, at 2 p.m.

Together, the Coroner’s Offices will be interring four unclaimed veterans and the unclaimed wife of a veteran with full military honors. The veterans and wife of a veteran include:

– William Bauer, U.S. Army (Specialist), Vietnam War Era, Warminster Township, passed in 2023 in Montgomery County
– Amelia Emma Caro, wife of a World War II veteran, Bristol Township, passed in 2013 in Bucks County
– John Campbell Morgan, U.S. Navy (Yeoman Seaman Recruit), Vietnam Era, Warrington Township, passed in 2013 in Bucks County
– William Strauss, U.S. Army (Private First Class), Korean War Era, Springfield Township, passed in 2012 in Bucks County
– Leonard Wilson, U.S. Army (Recruit), Korean War Era, Middletown Township, passed in 2012 in Bucks County

During the ceremony, their names will be read, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present the flag on behalf of the veterans. A rifle salute and live Taps will be provided. After the ceremony, the veterans and veteran’s wife will each be placed in their own niche in the columbarium, which will be engraved with “Proudly Served” and “Loving Wife.”
