McPhillips backs AG lawsuit

The lawsuit states that MV Realty is misleading residents with its Homeowner Benefit Program

Bucks County Recorder of Deeds Dan McPhillips is working with colleagues from surrounding counties and the state attorney general’s office in a lawsuit against MV Realty.

Earlier this year, McPhillips was contacted by James Leonard, commissioner of records in Philadelphia, about complaints the office was receiving from residents about a company, MV Realty.

Before ending his term as attorney general, Josh Shapiro brought a lawsuit against MV Realty. The lawsuit states that MV Realty is misleading residents with its Homeowner Benefit Program, which offers residents a one-time monetary payout, from $300 to $1,500, in exchange for exclusive rights to list the residents’ property if they decide to sell within the next 40 years.

When originally contacted by Leonard about MV Realty, McPhillips asked his employees if there had been any recordings, or resident complaints, in the office. While no complaints have been heard in Bucks County, it was discovered that close to 100 mortgages by MV Realty have been recorded since 2020.

McPhillips recommends Bucks County residents sign up for the Free Fraud Alert Program offered by his office.

The attorney general’s office asks residents who have concerns about a mortgage recorded on their property by MV Realty to contact Jordon Foley at jfoley@attorneygeneral.gov or 717-857-2104.
