The trustees of the Bucks County Bar Foundation announced that the application process has begun for those interested in securing this year’s Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship or William Penn Scholarship.
The Thomas E. Mellon Jr. Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship to any candidate attending a four-year liberal arts education program who has shown extraordinary commitment to public service and/or community service.
The William Penn Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for the post-high school education of students interested in pursuing a career in law or a law-related field who have also shown commitment to public service or community service.
Eligibility requirements include a record of academic excellence and a strong commitment to public service. Applications, additional criteria and details for both scholarships can be found at bucksbar.org/bar-foundation/bcbf-scholarship/. Applications must be submitted by April 21.
“Thanks to our foundation board of trustees and the countless members of our community who support our mission and work to recognize and encourage local students, last year we awarded $10,000 in scholarships to deserving members of the local community,” said Jefferey Liebmann, Esq., president of the Bucks County Bar Foundation.
The Bar Foundation is financed through numerous community events held in support of these two scholarships, as well as individual donors from across Bucks County.
