The Branch Fitness Second Annual Warminster Food Bank Donation Dash 5K Run & Walk is set for Saturday, May 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. (rain or shine), at Warminster Community Park, 1100 Veterans Way, Warminster. Cost for the 5K is $30 and the run will be a timed and sanctioned race. Cost for the fun run and walk is $15. Participants for both the 5K and fun run/walk will receive an event T-shirt. Proceeds benefit the Warminster Food Bank, which serves over 650 families per month in Bucks and Montgomery counties. Ninety-five percent of donations go toward providing food to families in the community. Despite it being rainy last year, the race welcomed 125 participants and raised $11,000.
“We were looking for an event that would help raise funds to support our mission,” said Mike Cerino, Warminster Food Bank director. “We decided on a 5K run and walk, since it would be a fun event for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Last year’s run and walk was a resounding success, even in the rain, and we’re hoping for a bigger turnout this year.”
For those who can’t participate but want to help, monetary donations are accepted and sponsorship opportunities are available for area businesses.
