SCORE Bucks County is offering three free webinars in April in a continued effort to keep the local business community informed.

“IRS: What You Need to Know as a Small Business” takes place April 4. Led by Leslie Chambers and Richard Furlong, of the IRS, the webinar helps small businesses better understand and meet their tax responsibilities. Attendees will gain insight on: how to navigate federal taxes; IRS resources for small businesses; mistakes to avoid.

“How to Start a Nonprofit” takes place April 11. Presented by SCORE Bucks County certified mentors Joseph Lutes and Fred Weinhold, the session focuses on running a successful nonprofit. The mentors have decades of experience in financial services. Lutes spent more than 10 years as the finance director and implemented business planning and operating strategies for three major nonprofits, while Weinhold served as treasurer/financial manager for several nonprofits. Following this webinar, attendees will gain a better understanding of: the business plan; organizational and regulatory requirements; board of directors and volunteer issues; fundraising activities.

“Is Your Great Idea Really a Great Business?” takes place April 18. The webinar is led by SCORE Bucks County certified mentor Don Goeltz, an associate professor at Holy Family University in the school of business. Goeltz teaches courses on strategic management, marketing, entrepreneurship and international business. He has been an entrepreneur with several U.S. and international startups and previously held executive positions with national companies. Goeltz’s session focuses on the Business Model Canvas, which helps determine how successful an idea would be as a business. The seminar provides more information on: developing an in-depth understanding of the value proposition of a product or service; formulating a persona of an ideal target customer; defining the cost structure and where partners can lower costs and accelerate growth.

All webinars take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information or to register, visit score.org/buckscounty.
