Bensalem Police arrest burglary suspect who was found in 9-year-old’s bedroom

Paddy Patrick Purcell, 32, has been sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility

Bensalem Police responded to 391 Thunder Circle, Bensalem, on Sunday, March 12, at 1 a.m., for the report of a burglary in progress. The suspect was described by the homeowner as a white male with red hair, around 250 pounds with an Irish accent.

Upon arrival, police were told that the 9-year-old victim awoke to an unknown adult male in her bed, wearing only underwear. The juvenile ran out of her room and alerted her father. Her father entered the child’s room and discovered the male sitting on his daughter’s bed wrapped in a blanket. The male then fled the apartment before police arrived. The juvenile victim told police that the male had touched her inappropriately.

Bensalem Police quickly conducted a search of the area and their investigation led to a neighboring apartment occupied by Paddy Patrick Purcell, 32. Purcell was identified as the male that was inside the victim’s bedroom. Purcell was charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass and Indecent Assault of a Child under 13 years old.

He was arraigned by District Justice Mark Douple and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $1 million bail.
