Lynn Levin to read from new book ‘House Parties’

This collection of short stories is inspired by Edward Hicks’ ‘The Peaceable Kingdom’

Southampton poet and author Lynn Levin will read from her new book House Parties, a collection of short stories inspired by The Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks, in the Hicks Room of Middletown Friends Meetinghouse, 453 W. Maple Ave. in Langhorne, on Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. The Meetinghouse is where Hicks worshiped and was married. The reading will be followed by a book signing and light refreshments.

With a deft command of comic distance and abiding compassion for her characters, Levin in House Parties presents readers with a broad range of characters who ardently, foolishly and, often with weird invention, relentlessly spar with their fates.
