Bensalem High School Marine Corps JROTC is welcoming Chief Warrant Officer Five Michael Anderson, USMCR (Ret.) to speak at the high school during Black History Month on the morning of Friday, Feb. 17.
Anderson is currently employed by the Department of Transportation in the Federal Aviation Administration as a District Facility Manager for the North Florida Region. He is responsible for the navigation, communication, automation, weather, power, environmental systems and services and the associated infrastructure utilized by the Air Traffic Controllers, Other Government Agency and the flying public at the terminal airports staffed by the agency. He has been associated with the agency for 25-plus years.
He was born in Philadelphia, the youngest of four offspring to the Reverend Gary and Catherine Anderson. His parents moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he attended the local middle and high schools. After high school, he attended the University of Florida for three years before joining the Marine Corps.
Anderson attended Recruit Basic Training at MCRD Parris Island. After, he reported to MATSG-90, NATTC, NAS Millington, TN for training as a Marine Air Traffic Control RADAR Technician. After graduation, he received orders to report to MATCS-18 Det C, 1st MACG, 1st MAW, Okinawa, Japan. After the completion of his tour, he was ordered to report to MATCS-38 Det C, MACG 38, 3rd MAW, MCB Camp Pendleton, CA. After completion of that tour, he separated from active duty and continued his service as a Marine Reservist.
Upon his separation from active duty with the Marine Corps, he worked as an Electronics Technician with two defense contractors before he joined the Federal Aviation Administration, where he is currently employed.
Anderson has two children, Michael II and Zoe.
