Bensalem celebrates School Director Recognition Month

The nine school board members devote more than 20 hours per month to the complex responsibilities of board business

January is School Director Recognition Month in Pennsylvania, and the Bensalem Township School District is saluting its nine elected school board members who volunteer their time to serve Bensalem students, teachers and staff.

School board members devote more than 20 hours per month to the complex responsibilities of board business, including voting on budgets, adopting policy and conducting comprehensive planning. All reside in the community.

Bensalem’s school directors oversee a $169 million budget providing education for the more than 6,400 students in the district’s nine schools, staffed by 452 teachers, 64 administrative employees and 460 full- and part-time support personnel.

During this month of recognition, the district urges residents to show gratitude for school directors’ time, dedication and effort year-round.

The current school board is comprised of: president Eric Price, vice president Kim Rivera, Marc Cohen, Jack Meyer, Heather Nicholas, Jiten Patel, Sheldon Per, Joseph Pettyjohn and Michael Stewart.
