123rd Annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count takes place Saturday, Dec. 17, from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Join birder/naturalist Robert Mercer and a team of birders for this free event. All levels of experience, including no experience, are welcome to participate in this important citizen science national bird census. Come out for the whole day or part(s). Meet at Neshaminy State Park or at SLNC. Times/meeting locations will be confirmed upon registration. Bring your binoculars. Register online or by phone.
Earthship Tours take place Saturday, Dec. 17, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures. Free. Donations to the nonprofit Friends of SLNC are appreciated. Register online or by phone.
“The Wonder of it All” Holiday Concert by Christopher Westfall takes place Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. SLNC is welcoming back singer, songwriter, musician and Nashville recording artist Christopher Westfall to celebrate the season in song. Tickets are $15 per person in advance (by 4 p.m. Dec. 17) or $20 per person at the door (if available). Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless the event is canceled by SLNC. Concert is scheduled to take place inside the SLNC Visitors’ Center. Tickets and more information are available online.
Day-off from School Camp Days take place Dec. 23, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, April 7 and May 16, when most schools are off. Each day provides seasonal adventures for children ages 5-14. Staff and campers spend the days exploring the forest, swamps and marsh in all weather. Camp Days are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with before and after care options available. Trails are open daily, from sunrise to sunset.
SLNC Visitors’ Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
