Steve Noll, executive director of TMA Bucks, recently celebrated quite the impressive milestone — 20 years of service with the nonprofit transportation management association.
During TMA Bucks’ annual celebration lunch, held on Dec. 8 at The Bucks Club, Noll was singled out for his two decades of dedication. His tenure began in January 2002, when he became its first deputy director. He was promoted to executive director in 2018 after serving as acting executive director for a year.
On hand at the lunch to recognize Noll was deputy director David Walter, who spoke about his many professional accomplishments and strong leadership qualities, including caring for employees as people first.
“TMA Bucks thrives as an organization because of the work environment that Steve has created and Bucks County is so fortunate to have Steve as the leader of the TMA,” said Walter. “We can only hope he serves another 20 years.”
TMA Bucks board member Bryan Allen, who serves as chief of staff for state Rep. Tina Davis, presented Noll with a citation on behalf of the entire Bucks County delegation of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“I certainly never pictured this being what I’d do when I grew up, let alone make a career of,” said Noll. “I took a job at another TMA in the Philadelphia area as a way to reestablish myself in Bucks County after a couple of years living and working in radio broadcasting in central Pennsylvania. One thing led to another, and suddenly I’ve been with TMA Bucks for more than 20 years. I’m living proof that life can take you in directions you never imagined and that sometimes, your passion finds you instead of the other way around.”
Noll revealed that his father and uncle served as employees of the Bucks County Department of Health for more than 40 and 30 years, respectively. His mother was also a Bucks County employee for nearly a decade.
“So I suppose it’s only natural that I would get so much fulfillment out of continuing my family’s legacy of service to the place I call home,” said Noll.
Additionally during the lunch, TMA Bucks recognized Middletown Township, Rich Vona, of the County of Bucks, and engineering firm McMahon Associates for their dedication to its mission.
The keynote speaker was Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub, who shared the emotional story of losing four high school friends in a car crash. This tragedy ultimately shaped his career in law enforcement and led to his efforts to provide county-wide initiatives that promote traffic safety.
