Bensalem Toys for Toys surpasses expectations

227 toys, 81 stocking stuffers and 12 books were collected

The Toys for Tots collection boxes at Bensalem High School were overflowing, so they were picked up a day earlier than originally planned. This year, between Bensalem High School and Valley Elementary, 227 toys, 81 stocking stuffer-sized toys and 12 books were collected, a total that far surpassed that of 2021.

All toys collected are on their way to the Lower Bucks County Toys for Tots warehouse, where they will be sorted and redistributed to ensure every child has a present to open this holiday season.

Toys for Tots is giving special thanks to the VIVA Service Club (Valley Inspires Volunteer Action) and their advisors, Kristin Sigovich and Kelly Tomlinson, who surprised the Bensalem High School MCJROTC with two cars full of donated toys. The collection drive was hosted by the Marine Corps JROTC in partnership with the Lower Bucks County Toys for Tots program.

Master Sergeant Shawn Worthen, USMC (Ret.), Leadership Studies – Marine Instructor, has been involved with Toys for Tots for many years while in the Marine Corps and now retired. He has personally seen the impact this program has on many children who might not otherwise get a toy.
