Fill the Holiday Truck event set for Dec. 10

ShopRite of Warminster and Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church are teaming up to fight food insecurity

Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church’s Mission Team and ShopRite of Warminster are teaming up for a Fill the Holiday Truck food collection event to benefit Warminster Food Pantry on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine), at ShopRite of Warminster, 942 W. Street Road, Warminster.

Area residents and business owners are invited to participate. Shoppers will be provided with a list of items needed at the store’s entrances. Items collected will help provide monthly groceries and supplies for families in need in Bucks and Montgomery counties. Donations of cash or ShopRite gift cards will also be accepted.

NWPC will provide a holiday-themed, decorated truck for the event. Volunteers from the church’s Mission Team will be on hand to work with ShopRite employees and ShopRite customers to fill the truck with food and non-perishables. The items collected will be provided by Warminster Food Bank, which serves over 10,000 people a year, to those in need in the area.

“Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church has had a long history of sponsoring community food drives for the Warminster Food Bank and other area pantries,” said Barbara Louderback, of the Mission Team. “We are neighbors called to serve those in need. We want to thank ShopRite of Warminster and the Cowhey family for their support of the Fill the Truck event at their store. They are always here for our community and we are grateful.”

“Unfortunately, food insecurity is a year-round problem,” said Mike Cerino, director, Warminster Food Bank. “During this season of giving, we urge people to come out, make a donation of non-perishable food items and groceries and help us brighten the holiday season for those who are experiencing food insecurity in our local communities.”
