Team members from Parx Casino gave away thousands of meals for Thanksgiving and the holidays last Tuesday at Bristol Township Senior Center, 2501 Bath Road.

Over the previous week, Parx executives and team members donated hundreds of hours to personally make and prepare the meals through Caring for Friends. Those very same meals were then given away to seniors in need, along with a week’s worth of meals and soups. Seniors from Bucks County signed up for pick-up slots.

Parx also awarded a $15,000 check to Caring for Friends, which works to fight against hunger and serve those in need in Bucks County. Founded in 1974 on the belief that no one should be hungry or alone in a world of caring people, Caring for Friends is a volunteer organization and independent food bank serving Greater Philadelphia. Through its flagship meal delivery program, CFF provides food and friendship to homebound seniors, veterans and those with disabilities. Thanks to donations of time, money and product, CFF also provides meals to people experiencing homelessness, and donates food to more than 250 community partners working in unserved and underserved neighborhoods.

“The Parx Casino and Caring for Friends partnership is a tremendous opportunity to build a legacy of care in our community,” said Ron Davis, Parx Casino director of diversity and community development. “We are thankful to our team members who are always willing to help with outreach to those in need. We celebrate making a difference.”

“Caring for Friends is grateful to Parx Casino for its generous donation of $15,000, hundreds of hours of volunteer time and thousands of pounds of food,” said Vince Schiavone, Caring for Friends CEO. “In this time of inflation and supply chain issues, affording a Thanksgiving meal will be harder than ever. Thanks to Parx, thousands of Bucks County seniors and other neighbors in need will have a happier Thanksgiving.”
