TreeTrails debuts night climbing experience

Thrill seekers can take to the trees at night under the magical glow of lights

Since opening in August at Phoenix Sport Club, 301 W. Bristol Road in Trevose, TreeTrails has offered six aerial trails for ages 7 to adult and a KidTrails attraction built just above the forest floor for adventure seekers ages 4-7. Now, thrill seekers can take to the trees at night under the magical glow of lights.

“Trekking on aerial trails that are color-coded by the degree of challenge is a lot of fun during the day,” said Gina Bertucci, TreeTrails spokesperson. “But when the sun goes down and the lights come up, the experience is breathtaking.”

The main attraction at TreeTrails Adventures provides climbers ages 7 and up with six aerial trails that include quirky bridges, netted tunnels, gliding rides and zip lines that span between trees. These challenges are made of cable, rope and wood. The trails are color-coded by the degree of challenge they provide. Yellow trails are 10 to 12 feet above the forest floor and trail height progressively increases with green, blue and black trails, which are sometimes 50 feet above the ground. In addition to getting higher, trails increasingly tax balance, strength, stamina, nerve and problem-solving.

KidTrails offers many of the same elements, but they are built to scale for the stride and reach of pint-sized climbers. Since KidTrails is built about three feet off the ground, guardians can walk next to children offering a hand, advice and encouragement.

Before climbing, all guests are outfitted with climbing gear and go through an equipment briefing and practice before starting their two-hour climbing adventure.

“Since opening, we’ve heard only positive comments from guests excited about testing their limits and creating memories with their family and friends,” Bertucci said. “It’s such a great way to exercise and experience a natural old-growth forest. Now, our lights turn the forest into a glimmering fairy land.”

TreeTrails is open weekends and holidays through the end of November, with night climbing on Fridays and Saturdays. Holiday gift packs and season passes are available. Visit TreeTrails.com for more information.
