Local family collects donations for NOVA in honor of daughter’s first birthday

Harley Jo Kaiser’s birth mother was a victim of assault

NOVA was recently the recipient of donations of beverages, snacks and craft supplies in honor of the first birthday of Harley Jo Kaiser, of Hatboro. Harley’s family decided to collect and donate the items to help raise awareness about the organization and to give back to the community.

Harley was born on July 5, 2021, and was adopted by the Dailey family on July 9. Her birth mother was a victim of assault before Harley was born, so her adoptive family wanted to honor her birth mother’s strength by requesting that, in lieu of birthday gifts, family and friends donate an item from NOVA’s wish list and bring that item to Harley’s birthday party.

“Although we do not have direct contact with Harley’s birth mom, I feel so connected to her and am so grateful for the decision she made,” said Carrie Dailey, Harley’s adoptive mother. “I constantly think about her strength and selflessness and will make sure that Harley always knows that her birth mom made the biggest and first decision in her life.

“Donating to NOVA was a really special way to honor Harley’s birth mother, Harley’s birthday, her adoption, as well as educate and spread awareness about NOVA within our network.”

Harley’s grandmother Amy Jo Dailey is a SANE nurse for NOVA, so her family feels a special connection to the organization. The family received donations of cases of water, boxes of coffee K-cups, individually-packaged snacks, tissues, craft supplies, coloring books, paints and other items to be used by NOVA. When Harley’s family dropped off the items at NOVA’s Jamison office, they were treated to a tour of NOVA’s Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center.

“We are so grateful to the Dailey family for their donation of supplies in honor of their daughter’s first birthday,” said Michelle Cash, director of development at NOVA. “Not only will the supplies be a help to our clients, learning about the family’s generosity and hearing Harley’s story has been a real inspiration to everyone here at NOVA. We truly appreciate their support.”
