Unattended Veterans Service is Oct. 27

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office is interring four unclaimed veterans in Newtown

The community is invited to join the Bucks County Coroner’s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road in Newtown, on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m.

According to Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck, the Coroner’s Office will be interring four unclaimed veterans of Bucks County with full military honors. The veterans include:

– Albert Reamy, U.S. Navy, Rank: SA, World War II Era, of Bristol Township
– Lee Schantz, U.S. Army, Rank: PV2, Persian Gulf War Era, of Springfield Township
– Richard Wilburn, U.S. Marine, Rank: PVT, of Quakertown Borough
– Stephen Williams, U.S. Air Force, Rank: AMN, Vietnam War Era, of Bristol Township

During the ceremony, the veterans’ names will be read, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present the flag on behalf of the veterans. A rifle salute and live Taps will be provided. After the ceremony, the veterans will each be placed in their own niche in the columbarium, which will be engraved with “Gone But Not Forgotten.”

This will be the last Unattended Veterans Service held this year at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Services will resume in January 2023.
