Harlem Wizards visit Centennial School District

The special visit kicked off the One Book, One School initiative

The World Famous Harlem Wizards recently entertained students at Centennial School District’s elementary and middle schools with high-flying dunks, trick passes, music and dancing.

The purpose was to kick off One Book, One School and celebrate reading across the district. This program is led by Klinger teachers Julie Goodling and Megan London, and involves every student and staff member getting their own copy of a book and reading it together. The One Book, One School initiative is now in its fourth year and has grown to include Log College.

More than 1,300 students and staff are all reading The Crossover by Kwame Alexander. One of the Wizards, a children’s author, read a poem from the book to everyone.

On Thursday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m., at William Tennent High School, a basketball game between Centennial staff, aka The Slayups, and the Harlem Wizards will take place. Tickets are available here.
