Suicide prevention conference is Nov. 2

This virtual event is hosted by Lenape Valley Foundation

Lenape Valley Foundation is hosting a virtual suicide prevention conference on Wednesday, Nov. 2, via Zoom, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This half-day seminar, co-hosted by the Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force, aims to provide current information and best practices in suicide prevention. Renowned speakers will provide information and answer questions that will be beneficial to professionals, educators, first responders, counseling and nursing professionals, family members and the community.

Opening remarks will be made by Sharon Curran, LVF’s CEO, and Diane Ellis-Marseglia, vice chair, Bucks County Board of Commissioners. Conference speakers and topics include the following:

– Dave Fialko, of The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania: The Correlation Between Substance Use and Suicidal Behavior
– Victor Armstrong chief diversity officer of RI International: Justice, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – Perception is Everything
– David A. Yovino and Michael Gill, of Bucks Support Services: Suicide Prevention in the LGBTQ+ Community
– Alexandra Pattison and Gabrielle Slifkin, of Lenape Valley Foundation: Identifying Suicide Risk in Children and Teens

The conference is open to the public. Online reservations are required in order to receive the Zoom link. The registration fee is $25. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the course evaluation. The program is pending approval by the National Association of Social Workers for four continuing education credits. The conference is also ACT 48 eligible and has been approved for four EMS/CPC credits.
