Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Road in Bristol, announced a number of events for the month of October:

Saturday Morning Bird Walks are offered through November at 7:30 a.m. Free. Bring your binoculars if you have a pair. Meet at the Welcome Kiosk outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center.

Full Moon Sound Journey with Rainbows of Healing takes place Friday, Oct. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. For information and to register, visit RainbowsOfHealing.com.

Bird Seed Sale takes place Saturday, Oct. 15 (orders due by Oct. 8), from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bird watching is more fun when you can attract them to your own yard, so fill your feeders with one of SLNC’s special mixes. Friends of SLNC Members receive a 10 percent discount on all orders. Place an order online or by phone.

Earthship Tours take place Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures. Free. Donations to the nonprofit Friends of SLNC are appreciated. Register online or by phone.

Free Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails takes place Sunday, Oct. 16, from 2 to 3 p.m. Join for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the parking area. Register online or by phone.

Al Mikula’s Red Garter Big Band Concert takes place Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. This is a fundraising event, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the nonprofit Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center. Concert takes place in SLNC’s indoor auditorium. Space is limited. Tickets are $20 per person. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless the event is canceled by SLNC. Tickets are available online or by phone.

Trails are open daily, from sunrise to sunset. SLNC Visitors’ Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
