On Friday, Sept. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., Cairn University is hosting an opening gallery reception for artist Timothy Gierschick II’s New Creatures exhibit. Gierschick will be at the university to discuss his work and answer questions over light refreshments.
The body of works on display has come from Gierschick’s own psychological and imaginative world and has been inspired by the nature and culture he is suffused with, incorporating everything up to and including advertising and pop culture to “fine” paintings. The matter with which these paintings are made are also a product of the world, often being created on found surfaces — humble, discarded pieces that he resurrects and finds new life in.
The reception takes place in the Connie A. Eastburn Gallery, located on the campus at 200 Manor Ave. in Langhorne. New Creatures will be on display in the gallery through Nov. 4.
