Klinger Middle School to help ‘Stuff the Bus’ on Aug. 28

Nonperishable food and grocery items will be collected at Giant for Warminster Food Bank

Warminster Food Bank is teaming up with Klinger Middle School and Centennial School District for a Stuff the Bus food drive on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon (rain or shine) at the Giant Supermarket, 720 W. Street Road in Warminster.

Area residents and business owners are invited to participate and donate nonperishable food and grocery items. A list of the food bank’s priority needs can be found at warminsterfoodbank.com and will also be shared with shoppers at the store’s entrance. Items collected will be provided to people experiencing food insecurity in Bucks and Montgomery counties. Donations of cash or Giant gift cards will also be accepted.

Centennial School District is providing a school bus for the event and volunteers from Klinger will be on hand to work with Giant employees, food bank volunteers and Giant customers and staff to fill the vehicle with groceries. Warminster Food Bank serves over 800 individuals/200 families each month and more than 7,500 individuals/1,800 families each year in the communities it serves.

“Back to school time is a perfect time to raise awareness in our community about food insecurity,” said Mike Cerino, director, Warminster Food Bank. “During the summer months, our donations go down, so partnerships like this one with Klinger Middle School and Centennial School District are particularly meaningful. Klinger students and their families can be very proud of the impact this event will have on families who would not be able to feed their families without the support of the Warminster Food Bank.”

“At our school, we often talk about service to the community,” said Martin Hayes, principal, Klinger. “Our students and their families take great pride in giving back to their community. The Stuff the Bus food drive is what service to the community is all about and it is an honor to work with the Warminster Food Bank in support of our neighbors in need.”
