Falls to rebid culvert replacement project

No bid submissions were received for the Rice Drive culvert removal and replacement project

The Falls Township community will have to wait at least a few months longer for the replacement of a failing culvert on Rice Drive.

During the recent supervisors meeting, the governing body voted unanimously to re-advertise the Rice Drive culvert removal and replacement project after the recent request for proposals resulted in no bid submissions.

Once the work is contracted, the new culvert will replace the existing corrugated metal pipe culvert system, which washed out following heavy storms.

Township engineer Joseph Jones provided engineering services related to the design of a concrete structure spanning the portion of Martins Creek that passes under Rice Drive at Annamarie Drive. The firm obtained professional surveying services, topographic data needed for permits, in addition to preparing bid schedules, advertisements and attendance at pre-bid meetings, bid evaluations and responsible contractor reviews. The firm would also provide construction inspection and oversight, as well as construction administration.

During construction, the road will be closed and traffic will be detoured during the estimated three months of construction, officials said previously.
