Nurses union backs Fetterman

The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals endorsed Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for U.S. Senate on Nov. 8

The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, representing more than 9,000 frontline nurses and healthcare professionals across the state, endorsed Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for U.S. Senate on Nov. 8.

“For our professions and for our patients, PASNAP proudly endorses Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for U.S. Senate,” said Maureen May, PASNAP president and a longtime Temple University Hospital nurse. “We believe he will use his seat in the Capitol to fight for what we value most – access to excellent, affordable healthcare for all, the conditions at the bedside that make excellence in patient care possible, and respect and protection for the frontline healthcare workers who have time and again risked their own lives to care for their communities.”

PASNAP endorsed Conor Lamb in the Democratic primary, but he was crushed by Fetterman.

“I am so grateful to receive the endorsement of PASNAP in this Senate race,” Fetterman said. “Earlier this year, I was honored to join Armstrong County Memorial Hospital nurses on the picket line in Kittanning, PA. I’m always proud to stand on the front lines with workers who ask me to be there and to use my campaign resources to help their efforts however I can. Since the pandemic began, I’ve believed that ‘essential’ has to be more than a talking point or a feel-good word. It has to be backed up by fair contracts, respect and affirming the union way of life. I have seen firsthand the work that PASNAP has done across Pennsylvania, and it is an honor to stand with you in the fight for the PRO Act, universal healthcare and other actions that put more power directly into the hands of workers.”
