The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, 680 Radcliffe St. in Bristol, recently purchased a book bike for use by library staff at public outreach events in the borough. Manufactured by Haley Tricycles, it is tentatively scheduled for a fall 2022 delivery.

This announcement comes on the heels of Book Bike Week (Aug. 1-5), an annual initiative of the Association of Bookmobile & Outreach Services, a 501(c)(3) organization with national membership.

While staff is eager to receive the book bike, some assistance from the public is needed in naming it. A naming contest for the tricycle runs from Monday, Aug. 15 through Monday, Sept. 19. Those interested in participating can submit their bike name suggestion(s) via the online form, or at any in-person library event (festivals, Sunday Stoll, Story Time, etc.) during the contest period.

The name of the bike will be selected by staff from among all the submitted bike names. The person who suggests the winning name will receive a $50 gift card to Cesare’s Ristorante in Bristol Borough. The name will be revealed during the library’s Webb Space Telescope event on Saturday, Oct. 1.
