The Goodman Properties/Warrington Cares Sprint Triathlon is set for Sunday, Sept. 11, with a start time of 7 a.m. The event begins and ends at Mary Barness Community Pool, located at 2501 Freedoms Way, Warrington. The race consists of a 300-meter swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 5K run through the streets of Warrington.

In addition to the Triathlon, athletes can participate in the following:

– Aquavelo: a two-part race consisting of a 300-meter swim and a 10-mile bike ride
– Duathlon: a two-part race consisting of a 10-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run

All of these races are best suited for those starting out as tri-athletes and those who are training for major triathlons. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers for men and women and for the top three finishers in each age category.

Cost for the Triathlon is $80; $70 for the Duathlon or Aquavelo. The official timekeeper is DQ Events.

This event is the major fundraiser for Warrington Cares, raising over $100,000 the past five races. Proceeds from this year’s event will provide: scholarships to local high school students; funds for local food banks/pantries; support for local families in need; and assistance to other small, local nonprofit organizations that help the community.

“We could not help all of the families and organizations that we do without the support of our generous and dedicated sponsors, especially Goodman Properties, our title sponsor,” said Barry Luber, president of Warrington Cares.
