Food collection event in Warminster collects 2000+ pounds

The nonperishable food goes to the Warminster Food Bank

The Warminster Food Bank teamed up with the Biddle Air National Guard Base in Horsham for a food collection event earlier this month at the GIANT Supermarket located at 720 W. Street Road in Warminster.

Area residents and business owners were invited to participate and a list of needed items were provided to shoppers at the store’s entrance. These items will be used to provide monthly groceries and supplies for families in need in Bucks and Montgomery counties. Donations of cash or GIANT gift cards were also accepted.

Warminster Food Bank collected over 2,200 pounds of nonperishable food items and $615 in cash and GIANT gift cards at the event.

The Biddle Air National Guard Base provided a vehicle for the event and uniformed military personnel were on hand to work with GIANT employees, food bank volunteers and store customers to fill the vehicle with food. The items collected will be provided to people in need in Warminster and the surrounding communities. The Warminster Food Bank serves over 7,000 people a year.

“Since many people are on vacation during the summer months, our donations slow down to a trickle,’ said Mike Cerino, director of the food bank. “Yet the need remains, no matter the season. We are extremely grateful to the team at GIANT Supermarket of Warminster, Biddle Air National Guard and members of the community who made donations today to help Warminster Food Bank alleviate food insecurity in our community.”
