The Grundy Museum, 610 Radcliffe St. in Bristol, is hosting Judy Gaunt and Dawn and Jim McCreary from Friends of Burlington Island on the River Park Lawn on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get an up close and personal look at the island seated on the lawn behind the museum as their live presentation “Burlington Island, In Your Backyard” unfolds.

Rich island history and mystery drive the Friends’ mission to advocate responsibility for its opening to the public for explorative, recreational and educational opportunities, while protecting its natural beauty and diversity.

No reservation is required for this free outdoor program. Light refreshments will be available. Guests are encouraged to pack lunches and bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to spend a day on the banks of the Delaware River beginning with the Friends’ presentation. All are invited to stay afterward to learn about and make a wampum bracelet to take home.

The Grundy Museum is open for tours the day of the program. These one-hour tours are available at 1:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Registration is required. Reservations can be made through TicketLeap, or visit grundymuseum.org for more information.
