Enjoy games, cooking and more next month

Southampton Free Library, 947 Street Road, announced a number of upcoming events for the month of June. The majority are now in-person, with a few virtual ones.

Southampton Story Stroll is set up in Tamanend Park, 1255 2nd Street Pike, through June 6. A Story Stroll separates a picture book into several different interactive stops and spreads them out along a nice walk for an outdoor activity. The Story Stroll is located on the paved path between the bird blind and the farmhouse and across from the Carriage House.

Genealogy Workshop takes place Wednesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. Join as Susan Koelble, a retired professional genealogist, leads a workshop on genealogical research and assists participants with their own research.

Come Play Mah Jongg on Wednesdays, June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, at 1 p.m. Seasoned players and beginners are welcome. Beginners can play or observe. Bring Mah Jongg set and card if you have them.

Grief and Loss Support Group takes place Thursday, June 2, at 3 p.m. Join as participants support each other and discuss some of the ways the loss of someone significant can affect our lives. The purpose of this group is to provide information about the grieving process; to share experiences; and alleviate the feeling of isolation. Hosted by Angelic Hospice’s Melissa Twersky, LCSW, and Marta Padus, bereavement coordinator.

Southampton Class Memories Scan Day takes place Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Upper Southampton Historical Advisory Board is looking for class pictures to add to its collection. If you went to Stackpole, Davis, Shelmire, Klinger Middle School, Southampton High School, Our Lady of Good Counsel or any other school in Southampton and have class pictures, please consider bringing them in to be scanned or donated. The board is also looking for donations of Southampton yearbooks or any school memorabilia. This is a drop-in event. Stop by any time during the posted hours to meet members of the board and have your items scanned.

AARP Smart Driving Course takes place Tuesday, June 7, at 1 p.m. This is a 4-hour refresher course. Open to all drivers. $25 for AARP members; $30 for non-members. Call Dennis at 215-443-0211 to register.

Beer and Board Games at Moss Mill Brewing Co. takes place Thursday, June 9, at 7 p.m. Come explore the National Parks without leaving home. Join at Moss Mill Brewing Company, 109 Pike Circle, Unit D, Huntingdon Valley, to enjoy beer and learn how to play the board game Trekking the National Park. All experience levels are welcome. Game is recommended for ages 10 and up. Games will be available for check out.

What’s Cooking at the Library: Father’s Day Cookout Foods takes place Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. Join Kitchen Wizards on Zoom and learn how to make BBQ sauce from scratch to add to your grilled meats. Include some homemade beer bread in your celebration. Ingredients and recipes will be emailed out about a week before class. If cooking along, please prep ingredients beforehand.

Virtual Music and Motion with Ms. Nancy takes place Monday, June 13, 20 and 27, at 10:30 a.m. Ages birth and up are invited to sing, dance and move with Ms. Nancy, a professional music teacher experienced in parent-child music programs.

Evening Book Club takes place Tuesday, June 14, at 6:45 p.m. This month’s selection is Summer of ‘69 by Elin Hilderbrand. Join at the library for a lively discussion.

Adult In-Person Coloring takes place Thursday, June 16, at 1 p.m. All are welcome.

Art with Ms. Christine takes place Friday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. Join for stories and an art project based on specific themes. Children can use their imagination while creating their own artwork, which can be displayed at home and shown off to family and friends. The theme this month is the ocean, with participants painting a ceramic sea creature. Best for children ages 3-6.

Oceans of Possibilities Summer Quest Kickoff Week takes place Saturday, June 18 to Saturday, June 25, all day. Join the library to kick off its Summer Quest program for 2022. Celebrate an “Ocean of Possibilities” with programs, prizes and reading. While the Summer Quest program runs June 18-Aug. 13, the library is offering special programs and prizes from June 18-25 for those who sign up. Register online or in-person and earn a raffle ticket for special Kickoff Week-only prizes. Visit Southampton.beanstack.org to register online. You must stop by the library to pick up your raffle ticket to enter it for a prize.

Summer Quest Storytime takes place Tuesdays and Fridays, June 21, 24 and 28, at 10:30 a.m. Join for summer reads, singing and rhyming all summer long. Best for ages 0-6. Siblings welcome.

Adventure Aquarium’s Center for Aquatics takes place Wednesday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. Join to explore the creatures of the deep. Space is limited. Best for elementary-aged children; families are welcome.

Weekend Walks – Delaware Canal Towpath at Yardley Park & Ride takes place Saturday, June 25, at 9 a.m. The group will start at the Yardley Park & Ride and decide on the destination once everyone is there. Would you rather head toward Washington Crossing and see a mini farm, walk toward Yardley Borough and stop at Starbucks or walk across the new Scudder Falls pedestrian path to New Jersey? Yardley is around a 3-mile trip, but you would get to stop and rest. Washington Crossing and New Jersey are about 2 miles. No registration required. The address for the Yardley Park & Ride is 1140 Woodside Road, Yardley. Meet in the parking lot.

Art with Ms. Leigh – Starfish Drawing takes place Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. Join for an “Ocean of Possibilities” as you create starfish out of colored pencils. This program is best for ages 8+, teens and adults.
