Bucks County Foundation, a charitable trust created to serve Bucks County and the people who live in the county, recently awarded Women’s Animal Center a $10,000 grant to support the purchase of new dental equipment to help improve outcomes for pet dental health.
Mandy Mundy, executive director of the Bucks County Foundation, visited the Bensalem facility to present the grant award to Jack Griffith, shelter services director, and Steve Price, veterinary hospital director.
“It is a most generous investment in our veterinary hospital delivering high quality dental care for community-owned pets and for the shelter pets waiting for their forever homes,” said Price.
Over the past several years, Bucks County Foundation has invested $50,000 in the lifesaving work of Women’s Animal Center. It has contributed to essential surgical and wellness equipment to enrich the lives of animals, including an ultrasound machine, fencing for the shelter play yards, cat housing upgrade to improve the habitats for cats and kittens in the shelter’s cat admissions and holding area, and the recent dental equipment.
“Women’s Animal Center assists thousands of animals and people in need throughout the county and region each and every year, but receives no federal, state or local funding to do so,” said Cathy Malkemes, chief executive officer of WAC. “We rely upon the generosity of our community to support our work, so to have a funding partner like Bucks County Foundation is truly invaluable to us and to our animals.”
“Bucks County Foundation is proud and honored to partner with such an essential organization in Bucks County,” said Mundy. “Providing fiscal support for critical programs to support animal health and wellbeing benefits the pets, as well as pet owners and the community at large.”
