DocterAdams Community Park set to open in Warrington April 29

The park is named after New Orleans Saints running back Josh Adams, who used to play at the former Willow Knoll Park

Warrington Township officials, special guests and New Orleans Saints running back Josh Adams will officially open DocterAdams Community Park, formerly known as Willow Knoll Park, on Friday, April 29, at 11 a.m. The park is located at 2235 Oxford Road, Warrington.

Renovation of the park has been decades in the making. Adams, a Central Bucks High School South alum (class of 2016) and Warrington native, spent many hours as a child playing in Willow Knoll Park and always felt that it needed an upgrade.

With the help of township officials, community and business donations, a $90,000 Community Development Block Grant from Bucks County and a $50,000 Keystone Community Grant acquired with the support of state Sen. Maria Collett, Adams’ vision has become a reality.

The reimagined park will have new equipment that both children and adults can utilize for play and fitness, as well as an updated pavilion that will be available to the community for small gatherings. Design and construction services will be furnished by GameTime, a PlayCore Company, through MRC Recreation, a company that has built playgrounds and other recreational areas throughout the U.S.

DocterAdams Community Park is derived from Adams’ nickname when he played for the Central Bucks High School South football team. After nine months of construction and renovations, the park is ready to open and be enjoyed by children and adults for play and fitness for years to come.

“I’m excited for the opening of the park,” said Adams. “I want kids to be encouraged and motivated when they play here. Everybody deserves the opportunity to chase their dreams. I’m grateful that the park can be a place where kids in the community can do that.”

Ruth Schemm, vice chair of the Warrington board of supervisors and board liaison to the Parks and Recreation board, said, “It has been great working with Josh Adams and his team to revitalize his childhood park in Willow Knoll. This park will give both the young and the young at heart a place to play, exercise and have fun.”
