Tomlinson announces $1 million in funding for Bensalem Township

$500,000 will go toward the River Renaissance in New Bensalem project

Rep. K.C. Tomlinson (R-Bucks) announced that the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program has awarded $500,000 to Bensalem for its River Renaissance in New Bensalem project.

“This is a great project that will drive economic development in Bensalem by improving riverfront access to the Delaware River and give residents and visitors better access to our very own beautiful natural resource,” said Tomlinson.

The funding will build a new connector road from Street Road. A new traffic signal will be installed to handle this new avenue. The new road will include bike, parking and travel lanes, and a landscaped median.

The project will create the spine for a new waterfront multimodal infrastructure system and includes construction of the “New York Avenue Connector” to become the main new arterial feeder to the industrial area.

Tomlinson also announced that RACP has awarded $500,000 for redevelopment of the Saint Katharine Drexel Shrine. The project will preserve the historic Mother House, which is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, into a multi-purpose campus.

“I want to thank RACP for appreciating our arguments on why these two projects are so important to the effective and efficient development of our community,” said Tomlinson.
