‘Anecdotal Anatomy in Action’ live podcast party set for April 22

This event, hosted by local podcast hosts and yoga/meditation instructors Theresa Tobin Macy and Sherry Sadoff Hanck, takes place in Yardley

Local podcast hosts Theresa Tobin Macy and Sherry Sadoff Hanck are hosting their first live event “Anecdotal Anatomy in Action.” They are best known in the area for their involvement in the yoga community as teachers of yoga and meditation.

The event takes place outside on the porch of the Commonplace Reader, 49 S. Main St. in Yardley, on April 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Macy and Hanck planned this free, live event to embody the essential aspects of their podcast and bring the local community of listeners together. There will be eating, drinking, breathing and moving, as well as games and prizes, and a casual conversation that will include storytelling and a Q&A. Guests are invited to participate or just listen. The hope is that all who attend have fun and leave with something positive to incorporate in their lives.

“Anecdotal Anatomy” is a podcast that explores the stories the body holds and the stories it tells, with an aim to connect individual experiences to the collective. For two seasons, Macy and Hanck have had casual conversations with each other and a roster of guests around themes relating to what it is to live in a body, including the physical, energetic, mental, emotional and more. Using storytelling as the main tool, Macy and Hanck often offer practices that relate to the topic of the episode, leading the conversation into an experience, to support the listeners on their journeys.

The weekly podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and most major platforms. New episodes drop every Thursday.

Macy is a massage therapist, educator and yoga therapist. She has decades of experience and, through this podcast, has found an outlet for sharing what she’s learned. Macy has created comprehensive programs for wellness professionals and aspiring individuals. She leads workshops in movement, mindfulness and massage. She prefers to spend time and teach in nature, but is just as eager to show up on Zoom or in the classroom.

Hanck is a published author, speaker and a 23-year practitioner of yoga and meditation. She has been teaching yoga for the last 11 years. She and Macy met at the Prancing Peacock Studio in Yardley. This meeting ultimately led to their partnership in creating the podcast. They mutually recognized the benefits of bridging the gap between a purely scientific knowledge of anatomy with a more personal storytelling approach that non-science-oriented individuals could relate to.

This duo said, “Elizabeth Young of Commonplace Reader has generously allowed us to use her porch for the festivities. She has created a significant presence in our little river town and embraces the local creatives with open arms.”

They are interested in hearing others’ stories of embodiment and request they be sent to [email protected].
