In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, On Demand! Programs and Events and Hopewell Theater are partnering to present “That Old Black Magic,” featuring baritone showman Keith Spencer, who has previously appeared at the Bristol Riverside Theatre. The show is on Friday, April 15, at 8 p.m.
The performance is a bluesy and sentimental tribute through some of the most recognizable standards of the American Songbook brought to life by African American greats, such as Nat “King” Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Billy Eckstine and Johnny Hartman. Familiar songs, including “Route 66,” “Love Me or Leave Me,” “Lush Life,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon” and “Birth of the Blues,” will be performed, among many other standards.
For this one-night-only special performance, Spencer is backed by a five-piece jazz ensemble featuring some of the most talented instrumentalists in the region.
“I am thrilled to present this one-night-only special concert featuring Keith Spencer,” said On Demand! Programs and Events founder Natalie Kaye. “I have worked with Keith for many years presenting him to sold out audiences throughout the Mercer-Bucks area and I know this will be a memorable performance.”
