Playwicki Farm announces schedule of events

Second Fridays return with Allegra as the exclusive sponsor

The Playwicki Farm Foundation announced a full schedule of upcoming community and special events at the 110-acre farm, located at 2350 Bridgetown Pike in Feasterville.

“Once again, the foundation will be hosting a new and exciting five-part Second Friday series which gets underway on May 13 with a terrific program planned and produced by Mommy’s Lil’ Black Book, of Levittown, PA,” said Rose McMenamin, president of the Playwicki Farm Foundation. The company has been retained to handle all of the Second Friday programs.

Allegra, a full-service marketing, mailing and printing company in Northeast Philadelphia, is the exclusive sponsor in 2022 for the Second Friday series.

“I’m delighted and excited to become the exclusive sponsor this year and I look forward to being an integral part of all the upcoming events and activities,” said Michael Logan, Sr., vice president of Allegra.

Receiving the check (from second from L) are Stu Freeman, foundation board member; McMenamin; June Olsen, board member; and Walt Mulholland, director of the Lower Southampton Parks and Recreation Department.

Second Fridays take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on May 13, June 10, July 8, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9.

According to Jen Flannery, of Mommy’s Lil’ Black Book, “All of the Second Friday programs are free and open to the public and will feature wonderful food trucks and food vendors, crafters, a beer and wine garden for adults, a moon bounce and knuckle ball for children, balloon art and face painting and disc jockey and/or live music. Parking is free at the farm. We are trying to offer something for every member of the family, young or old.”

In addition to the Second Fridays, there is an Easter Bunny Extravaganza with Easter egg hunts for children in age-specific categories, from infancy to 12 years, on April 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. Parents are invited to bring their cameras to take photos of their children with the Easter Bunny.

On Oct. 1, the foundation is hosting a colorful Octoberfest with a plethora of authentic German cuisine and an ethnic wine and beer garden for adults. The annual Halloween Fun Day on Oct. 22 will be hosted by the Lower Southampton Police Department and fire marshal’s office. It will feature a K-9 costumes event at 10 a.m. hosted by the police, plus the Trunk or Treat candy giveaway sponsored by the fire marshal’s office, beginning at 11 a.m.

The annual Holiday Open House with Santa Clause, food trucks, crafts and bonfire will be held on Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to come observe and celebrate the holidays and are encouraged to bring cameras to take photos with Santa and their children.

Playwicki Farm is celebrating its 28th anniversary year since the Lower Southampton Township board of supervisors purchased it for the public to enjoy. The Playwicki Farm Foundation was created in September 1996 as an independent tax-exempt corporation to raise money for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. The funds are used for repair, maintenance and preservation, and the development of educational programs.
