Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County’s annual fundraising gala “Hard Hats and High Heels” is set for Friday, April 8, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at The Warrington.

A large contributor to the event’s success is the “Designer Challenge.” This year, eight Bucks County artists and craftspeople turn ordinary donated items from the Habitat ReStore into one-of-a-kind creations, which will be auctioned off at the event.

The evening includes an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a three-course dinner, and live and silent auctions. Jeff Devlin, of HGTV, Magnolia Network and Discovery Channel, will emcee the event. Guests can also purchase symbolic doors, windows and walls during the mission appeal to further their own impact in Bucks County.

“We are thrilled to resume our biggest fundraising event of the year, which supports our mission of providing affordable homeownership in Bucks County,” said Florence Kawoczka, executive director, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. “The funds raised by this event are critical to our ability to make our homeownership and home repair programs available to hard-working, low-income families in Bucks County.”

Habitat homeowners James and Margaret will share what their Habitat home means to their family. They said that guests “will help people like us become homeowners, and you will have a profound impact on another family’s trajectory … You may never know all the lives that you will touch.”

Tickets can be purchased at one.bidpal.net/hatsnheels/welcome and guests will be able to preview auction items online. All silent auction items, including the “Designer Challenge,” will also be available for online bidding.

“Hard Hats & High Heels” lead sponsors include Johnson & Johnson, Penn Community Bank, Parx Casino and Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages.

Founded in 1990, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County’s mission is “building communities, empowering families.” Since then, it has built or fully renovated 123 affordable homes in Bucks County through its Homeownership Program, which provides an opportunity for low-income families to build strength, stability and self-reliance by partnering with Habitat.

Its low-cost Home Repair program makes interior and exterior repairs to help individuals improve accessibility and remain safe in their own homes. Revenue from Habitat Bucks ReStores provides a source of sustainable funding for the construction and repair of homes.

Habitat Bucks has an open-door policy – all who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to volunteer to lend a helping hand. Visit habitatbucks.org or call 215-822-2812 for more information.
