Yardley’s Dr. Lise Deguire, clinical psychologist and author of the multi award-winning memoir Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience from a Burn Survivor, has an important message that is now reaching thousands of readers and event attendees around the world.
Since the book’s release in 2020, Deguire has been approached to speak in-person and virtually for a variety of groups, including national burn conferences, psychological associations, corporations, government organizations, womens’ empowerment groups, chamber of commerce events, schools and colleges, faith-based congregations and book clubs.
From March through October, she has already been invited to speak at 16 events. She will be appearing in New York, Las Vegas and Arizona, in addition to speaking locally. She will be keynoting, as well as moderating and participating in, panels. Topics include “Finding and Cultivating Your Resilience,” “Triumph Over Trauma,” “From Trauma into Community” and “Living Lessons.”
“My goal when I wrote Flashback Girl was to help others overcome grief and trauma by shining an example from my own personal life experiences. I hoped to provide both inspirational and practical strategies that others could utilize as a tool kit to help lead a happy and joy-filled life, despite life’s tragedies,” said Deguire. “I am extremely grateful to all of these in-person and online forums that have provided me the opportunity to reach others. Whether someone has experienced trauma firsthand or not, there are many benefits to hearing my story. Among them include lessons of compassion, empathy, gratitude, coping mechanisms, self-love and embracing the love of others.”
