Bensalem students participate in PJAS Regional Competition

Young scientists from Bensalem High School, Shafer and Snyder earned first place awards

The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Region 1C Competition took place virtually from Cecelia Snyder Middle School. A total of 361 students from Bucks and Philadelphia counties participated by presenting at the Regional Meet. Usually held in person at Snyder Middle School on the last Saturday in February, the format continued this year as an asynchronous virtual meet.

Thirty Bensalem High School students participated, with 26 earning first place awards. They are: Ali Ahmad, Candice Chen, Sara Devlin, Sofia Ferrandez, Krishiv Gandhi (perfect score), Tiffany Gao, Kaitlyn Higgins, Julia Mathews, Joshua Mathew (perfect score), Victoria Mocarski, Brian Olsen, Mohak Parmar, Aastha Patel, Aayushi Patel, Astha Patel, Ayush Patel, Gunjan Patel, Jia Patel, Mahi K. Patel, Meet Patel, Yashvi Patel, Keira Seidman, Diya Shah, Zaid Shaik, Madison Thai and Phoebe Ting.

The high school students were sponsored by Lisa Tokmajian.

In the Middle School Division, after months of hard work and dedication, seven Robert K. Shafer students earned first place awards. They are: Mary Beck, Lucas Ferrandez, Adelina Galarza, Sarah O’Neil, Jeet Patel, Sophia Seidman and Sierra Thomas.

The Shafer students were sponsored by Morgan Golombek.

Eight Cecelia Snyder students earned a first place award. They are: Anna Marks, Abigail Krevolin, Daphne Gao, Farida Moursi, Jhanvi Pathak, Diya Patel, Heeti Desai and Michael Larbi (absent from photo).

The Snyder students were sponsored by Kate Liese and Tom Hoffman.

Earning a first place award allows these talented young scientists to compete at the virtual PJAS State Meet in May.
