The BennettStrong Foundation recently held its fifth annual fundraising gala on Feb. 26 at The Warrington and raised over $10,000 for its endeavors to help families in the N/IICU at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This year’s event, BennettStrong: The Greatest Show gala, raised more funds than any other past gala to help continue the funding of the foundation’s parent survival kits in the N/IICU.
“Being in the N/IICU is scary and feels really isolating,” said BennettStrong co-founder Mary Pellegrino. “Coupled with the pandemic, it’s especially important that patients and families feel supported and cared for. I was especially honored to announce our partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation to create a new parent space in the N/IICU. Now, our parent survival kits will have a ‘home’ and parents will have additional resources needed to manage their N/IICU experience.”
Guests started their evening with formal photos, carnival-themed surprises and a cocktail hour before enjoying a seated dinner with speakers and interactive entertainment. This year’s keynote speaker was Travis Williams. He and his wife Kate came all the way from Ohio to share their inspirational story about their daughter Haddie and their journey in the N/IICU at CHOP.
Natalie Egenolf, Philadelphia sports media personality, served as emcee of the event, while The Big House Band provided musical entertainment. Afterward, Jesus Trejo, one of the fastest rising names in the stand-up comedy scene, performed a special VIP show for guests.
Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to win a variety of raffle baskets donated by generous donors within the community. Guests were also able to take part in a live and silent auction.
