Bucks County Historical Society welcomes new vice president of advancement

Heather Cevasco was appointed to this senior leadership position

The Bucks County Historical Society named Heather Cevasco as vice president of advancement, effective Monday, March 7.

The vice president of advancement provides leadership to support the BCHS’ institutional mission-driven initiatives. This senior leadership position identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gifts and grants from individuals, foundations, corporations and government sources to support the BCHS’ mission and achieve the museum’s strategic goals.

Through both her professional career and volunteer activities, Cevasco has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to building stronger communities across Bucks County and Pennsylvania.

For two decades, she worked in the public sector, first serving as district director for state Rep. Chuck McIlhinney, and then progressing to become his chief of staff as he moved to the state Senate. In these roles, Cevasco helped guide a legislative agenda that focused on improving the lives of Pennsylvanians. She also oversaw a constituent community outreach and services operation that kept her involved with Bucks County organizations and residents.

After leaving the public sector, Cevasco brought her community and legislative skills to the healthcare industry, where she most recently served as director of community and government affairs for Doylestown Health.

“Heather’s breadth of experience in the corporate, government and nonprofit sectors will be a major asset to the Bucks County Historical Society and will allow BCHS to continue to grow and fulfill our mission and serve our community in a meaningful way,” said BCHS president and executive director Kyle McKoy.

“I am excited to take on this new role and continue the efforts I have made to promote BCHS over the past decade as a volunteer and as an active member of the board of trustees. To be part of such a wonderful group of committed volunteers, staff and board members who are all focused on the bright future of this organization is an honor,” said Cevasco. “I look forward to utilizing my background and the community connections I have made over the years to help bring BCHS to the forefront and increase our fundraising efforts, partnerships and collaboration in the community.”

Cevasco most recently served as chair of the Bucks County Historical Society board of trustees and has been involved with the organization for many years. In her role as a trustee, she helped provide the organization with sound governance, strategic oversight and direction, along with supporting and organizing fundraising events to support the Mercer Museum and promote education programs for Fonthill Castle.

“The trustees of the Bucks County Historical Society are very excited to support Heather Cevasco as she transitions from the board to a full-time staff member as vice president of advancement,” said Linda Hodgdon, incoming chair of the board of trustees of the BCHS. “Heather will be a tremendous asset in her new position and I am honored to follow her very capable presidency of the board of trustees and look forward to an exciting year ahead.”

Cevasco is also dedicated to helping individuals with mental health issues and disabilities, and served as a member of the board of trustees of the Lenape Valley Foundation from 1999-2009. Her efforts on behalf of LVF helped secure funding and recognition for a number of foundation programs and services. She previously served as LVF board president and was honored in 2002 as a recipient of the Lenape Valley Foundation President’s Award. She continues to be involved with the organization, serving on the Lenape Valley trust board.

In 2015, Cevasco proudly received the Ted Lindeman Outreach Foundation Humanitarian Award for her service in the community.

Her other board and commission memberships through the years include the Bucks County Bar Foundation board, BucksMont Chamber of Commerce, Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, Bucks County Playhouse Artists, Network of Victim Assistance, Bucks County Emergency Health Council, Bucks County Local Emergency Planning Committee, Children’s Cultural Center of Bucks County and Soroptimist International of Bucks County.

Cevasco resides in Plumstead Township with her husband John.
